Mierswa and Kluska is a collective project by two
photographers, Andreas Mierswa and Markus Kluska. They started off by exploring
still life at the very beginning and they now work on the whole range of
photography. Including 3D technologies. They work on there interest in
experimental work techniques to get away from the well-known looks of various genres.
Their studio is based in the centre of Munich, Germany.
Mierswa-Kluska captured this photograph as part of there
'Supernatural' work. This photograph expresses all things natural, the barefaced
model and raw flowers capture this. The model looks 'supernatural' as she has
hardly any makeup on, and it looks like her hair is also natural.
Mierswa-Kluska has added the raw flowers onto her arm and hand to add a 3D-like
effect, also bringing a more natural subject into the composition. This
photograph has been taken in a portrait composition, to highlight the models
face and shoulder area. They have also taken the photograph this way to add a
dimensional view to the photograph.
These photographs also capture a supernatural theme, the
models are barefaced, natural looking and have flowers overlaid on top of them.
I really like the effect this makes because the models face blends in with
shapes of the flowers. Mierswa-Kluska has inspired me to develop my ideas of
hiding my models in their fears and phobias, using makeup and Photoshop.
Responses:
I experimented with different photographs of flowers and
using them to overlay on top of some photographs I took of my model facing the
side. I also experimented with a white and black backdrop. This has helped me
to play around with Photoshop a lot more and using all of the different tools
and settings. I think that the ones with a white background have worked better
because they are brighter but the ones with the black background work equally
as well because they have more depth and shadows.
