Fear of not being good enough | Development

My model's fear is not feeling good enough, as I want to show each of my models fears, phobias/insecurities through makeup. I decided to write loads of words to do with 'not feeling good enough'. Words used: Lame, Weak, Wrong, Tired, Sad, Failing, Fear, Mess, Why, Unstable, Trapped, Quiet, Scared, Shy, Disappointment. The photographs below are unedited (Raw photographs).
Edited photographs:
To edit all of these photographs I made them into black and white and increased the contrast and brightness.
The composition of this photograph is really interesting because you can't see her eyes. I think that this shows that she feels this fear and doesn't want anyone to see the emotion her eyes may be showing. By having her eyes out of the frame also allows you to focus more on the words and not her eyes. Therefore because her eyes are not shown in this photograph it makes her look isolated and this portrays sadness and all the emotion she is feeling towards her fear. I changed this photograph to black and white because this makes the photograph itself more powerful, it also enhances the words on her face. It gives more depth to the photograph and really brings out the distinctive features of her face, body and words. I increased the contrast and brightness to create a more balanced look to the photograph.
I like the lines that this photograph creates, by having her head back and her hair falling behind her creates a linear pattern. However by only showing half of her face in the image you can only see half of the words, therefore I like how it leaves the viewer guessing at what the other words might be, or mean.   In this photograph her eyes are facing upwards but you still can't see her eyes fully, again I like this because you can't see all the emotion her eyes might be showing. It makes her look vulnerable and fragile. The black and white filter creates a contrast of boldness against the plan background. Even though it looks bold and distinctive it also looks subtle and light. I have also cropped this photograph right down so there’s not a lot of blank space around my model. This re-enforces the isolation and vulnerability of her, she looks as if she's trapped, closed in and she's looking for an escape.
This photograph shows that she is still trying to find an escape; her facial expressions and body language express this. With my model looking up also creates a balanced contrast to the composition of the photograph. This photograph is also black and white because it balances out the bold words on my models face. I have cropped this photograph right down so there aren’t any empty white spaces around my model. Therefore this emphasises the contrast between the plain background and the darkness of the words and colour of her hair.
This photograph contains a lot of contrast and shadows but this portrays the emotion and mood of the photograph. My model is feeling sad, tired, trapped, quiet etc. By increasing the contrast this expresses a powerful meaning and portrays all the emotion and feelings. The composition of this photograph expresses isolation and it also isolates the words on her face. This makes you stop and read the words and think about the emotion and meaning behind them.
This photograph has a lot of contrast, which brings out the words and shadows around her neck and face area. Her eyes are looking up because then the viewer can't see all of her emotion and feeling, she's still holding back on what she feels and what her mood is.
The composition of this photograph is interesting and expressive. You can only see half of the face and half of the words. This makes you think about what other words might be on her face. I didn't want to edit too much of the plain background because I like having a plain gap at the side of her head. It balances out the darkness of the words and her hair. I also like how you can see her eyes in the photograph because it portrays all the emotion that she is feeling.
I created a face chart to go with this photo shoot because I wanted to write out all of the words and phrases that I wanted to use. Makeup artist Topolino inspired me, as he takes inspiration from a range of different things, I took inspiration from the pressures of life for this photo shoot.

The lyrics to this song by Little Mix relate to this fear. I have added this video to this post because it portrays all the emotion that my model is feeling and it also emphasises the mood and meaning.
